1. How does GyftHint work? GyftHint can best be thought of as a digital store where you can let your friends & family know what the best gifts are to buy for you. Then for your special events like Birthdays, Anniversaries, and more, your friends & family can browse your store, buy gifts through retailer websites, and ship them to you or themselves. The magic of GyftHint is that we take a screenshot of the specifics you want — like size, color, and more! This way you’ll get the exact gifts you want and spend less time returning unwanted gifts after holidays or your birthday!
2. What is a “Hint”? A “Hint” is any product you add to GyftHint as a suggestion for your loved ones to buy. It can be a physical product, service like a massage, or even a gift card!
Inviting Friends & Family
3. How do I invite friends? From the Home Screen click Friends > Invite to GyftHint > Allow Access to Your Contacts > Enter a Mobile Phone number or a name and the App searches your contacts for that person. Once the person and mobile number are found, feel free to customize the messaging, but don’t remove the link otherwise your friends won’t be able to download the app.
Note: Can’t find your Friends on your Apple device? When using an iOS operating system such as an IPhone, select “ALLOW FULL ACCESS” to your contacts or the App will likely not be able to find all of your friends in your contacts. To change your iOS settings, go to Settings (on your phone, not the GyftHint app), search for the GyftHint app, and select “Allow Full Access” under Contacts.
4. Trouble finding friends? On iOS, enable “Full Access” to contacts in your phone’s Settings under GyftHint. This will ensure that the app has access to all of your contacts. If you find it easier, feel free to individually select the closest friends & family that you want to bring onto the platform.
5. How do I remove or block contacts? If you want to remove or block a connection, select the “Friends” tab on the app and then navigate to the user’s profile page that you’d like to remove or block. Once on the user’s page, select the “Connected” button and decide whether to remove or block the user.
Adding Hints
6. How do I add a Hint? Select product details (e.g., color, size), then click “Add to my store.” You don’t need to add items to the retailer’s cart in order for them to show up in GyftHint.
7. Can I add Hints from my browser? Yes! Share the product link to GyftHint using your phone’s share button. You might be prompted to “post” the link – but once you confirm, the product will be added to your GyftHint store.
8. How do I add gift cards? Choose the amount on the retailer’s site, then click “Add to my store” or “Suggest to Friend.”
9. What if I get an error while adding a Hint? Our AI process is constantly improving but isn’t perfect just yet! First, you can try to retry adding the Hint. If we fail to capture the product again, you can try once more after refreshing the retailer’s page.
Editing Hints
10. How do I edit a Hint? Click “Edit,” make changes on the retailer’s page like changing the size or color, then click “Update hint” to save an updated Hint to your store.
11. What if I get an error editing a Hint? Check if changes were saved. If not, edit the Hint again.
Buying Hints
12. Am I done buying after clicking “Buy Gift Now”? Not yet! We will direct you directly to the retailer’s website where you can re-verify details on the retailer’s page to complete the purchase! Once you return to GyftHint, you can mark it as bought so other friends & family don’t buy the same gift again!
13. Can two people buy the same Hint? No, one of the benefits of GyftHint is that you won’t get duplicates! Purchased Hints are marked by your friends & family as “Already Gifted” to avoid duplicates.
14. What if I change my mind after clicking “Buy Gift Now”? Return to GyftHint and mark the Hint as “No, I changed my mind” so others can still purchase it.
Suggesting Hints
15. How do I suggest a Hint to someone? Select product details, then click “Suggest to Friend.”
Prices and Loyalty Programs
16. What if the price doesn’t match the retailer’s site? At times, a retailer may change the price of a Hint after you’ve saved it to your store.
17. Can I use retailer loyalty programs? Yes, log into your retailer account during checkout to access discounts or benefits like free shipping.
Profile and Settings
18. Can I make my profile private? Yes. Set your profile to “Private” in settings. Once your profile is “Private”, only your network & approved friends & family can see your Hints.
19. Do I have to receive texts from GyftHint? No, the app will work perfectly fine without it — but enabling SMS ensures you don’t miss reminders or alerts for your friends’ birthdays or other gifting events, or even for yourself if you don’t have enough Hints in your store for them to buy you gifts.
20. What if the app screen looks off on my phone? Adjust your phone’s font or display size in Settings.
Reveal Process
21. What is the Reveal process? After buying a gift, leave a message for the recipient on GyftHint. Then, complete the purchase on the retailer’s site. Mark the Hint as bought to notify others.
